Irish ace Kenny's ready for centre stage with Celts

- MICHAEL GANNON

JOHNNY KENNY admits the famous pre-match rave at Feyenoord’s thunderous De Kuip home isn't really his scene.

The Celtic striker prefers to Shamrock and roll in Europe instead.

Kenny is set to lead the line in Rotterdam this week as the Hoops look to get their Europa League bid back on track.

The 22-year-old is chasing his first goal in continental competition for Celts after blasting four in Scotland since coming in for the injured Kelechi Iheanacho.

But the Irish ace has already shown he can hit the high notes in Europe after blitzing his way in the Europa Conference with Shamrock Rovers.

The Republic cap blasted five goals in six group games to fire the League of Ireland outfit to the knockout stages and he's on a mission to get up and running for Celts this week.

Feyenoord have their own struggles this season but the De Kuip is one of the toughest bear pits in Europe - with an epic pre-match techno and light show whipping the home crowd up before kickoff.

Kenny joked: “Nah, not for me. There won't be any Westlife, will there?

“We could certainly do with a big result. Obviously it's a big game.”

Kenny backs himself to be on song on the biggest stage.

He said: “I always think I can get into positions. It's just about putting the final piece on it. But I think I always know I'll get into positions, it’s just getting that first goal and, obviously I did, so hopefully I can keep getting there and get the goals.
