‘Sack trans row Green or risk backlash from women of Scotland’

MSPs have been warned they must sack Green MSP Maggie Chapman from a key Holyrood committee - or risk the wrath of women across Scotland.

The North East Scotland politician has come under fire after she accused the Supreme Court of “bigotry, prejudice and hatred”. She was responding to the decision of judges last week that legally set out the definition of a women in the Equality Act.

After a lengthy legal battle between the Scottish Government and feminist group For Women Scotland, members of the court sided with the campaigners by declaring the terms ‘women’ and ‘sex’ were based on biology.

The decision was welcomed by women’s rights campaigners but blasted by transgender activists.

Ms Chapman was attending a pro-trans rally in Aberdeen when she made her comments.
