Man arrested after 'climbing Windsor wall'

AN intruder sparked a security scare at Windsor Castle after he allegedly climbed a wall to get into the grounds.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of trespass on a protected site and possession of Class A drugs.

The suspect is said to have clambered over the ramparts near Town Gate on Sunday to get into the castle's private area.

He was quickly detained by the Met's Royal and Specialist Protection Command before being taken into custody, Scotland Yard said.

The suspect was handed over to Thames Valley Police the local force that covers the area outside the castle's perimeter before being arrested.
