New Reform MP in call for UK to join burka bans

NEWLY elected Reform MP Sarah Pochin has urged the Government to outlaw the wearing of burkas.

She asked Sir Keir Starmer if he would be joining European countries in banning the full face and body covering worn by some Muslim women.

The Runcorn and Helsby MP said at PM’s Questions in the Commons yesterday: “Given the Prime Minister's desire to strengthen strategic alignment with our European neighbours, will he in the interests of public safety follow the lead of France, Denmark, Belgium and others and ban the burka?” Her question triggered cries of “Shame!” in the Commons.
