MP accuses Nats of bid to block rape gang probes

A CRUSADING Scottish Labour MP has accused the SNP Government of “doing all they can” to “block any kind of independent scrutiny” of organised rape gangs.

Joani Reid was speaking during a debate on the UK Government’s rape gangs inquiry, which will only cover England and Wales. SNP and Green MSPs voted against a similar probe being set up here.

The East Kilbride and Strathaven MP said women and girls had been “failed by every institution” and praised Labour ministers for finally acknowledging it after “years of inaction”.
