Jacob's ton is a warning for Aussies

ON A DAY when the Government tested their severe alert text service, Jacob Bethell delivered his own warning.

And even though the sound of millions of mobile phones vibrating would not have been heard in Australia, Bethell’s first professional century will have been.

The 21-year-old became the second youngest England player to score an ODI century as South Africa were thrashed in a dead rubber at Southampton.

Underused this season, this was an emphatic statement that Bethell could be a trump card during the Ashes in the winter.
