It wasn't pretty but Saintee hails late heroics

KAI FOTHERINGHAM admits St Johnstone fell short against Queen's Park but still showed another side of the coin for Championship title success.

The Saints star believes Spiders can feel aggrieved at having nothing to show for an impressive game after a last-gasp winner from Josh McPake.

That goal preserved the visitors’ eight-point lead at the top and Fotheringham, a member of the Dundee United title-winning side of two years ago, knows it could be important.

He said: “We're a long way away from talk of winning leagues but that’s what teams that win leagues do.

“When I was with Dundee United in the Championship, Raith kept scoring late goals so it does have an impact. That's the sign of a good team - having that drive to keep going and knowing a chance will come but by no stretch of the imagination were we at our best.

“Queen’s Park did well and credit to them, they were really tidy on the ball.

“They caused us problems and Josh Fowler scored a very good goal after a bit of miscommunication from us.
