Hunt for masked rapist of teenager in capital hotspot

POLICE are a hunting a masked rapist who attacked a 15-year-old girl targeted on one of Scotland’s most-famous streets.

The teenager was approached in the early morning by a man at a bus stop on Princes Street in Edinburgh, close to the Marks & Spencer store, shortly after 5am on Sunday.

The attacker then led her through the city on foot to York Place, where he raped her in a basement area in the street. He then fled in the direction of Dublin Street.

He is described as white, with blond stubble or a beard and spoke with a Scottish accent.

He was wearing a black zip-up hoodie, khaki trousers and Nike trainers, and also wore a black balaclava.
