Greens who want to save the world by destroying Britain

THE Green Party at its annual conference at the weekend voted to abolish private landlords.
FANNING FLAMES: Green leader Zack Polanski speaks at this year's conference
Yes, you read that correctly. Even a former deputy leader said it sounded like something from the Communist Manifesto. But it’s no surprise really — the Greens have long been opposed to capitalism. Indeed, in recent years they have moved further and further from their often worthy founding principles to protect the environment and into the realms of student activism.
The weekend’s motion — passed by members and thus now official policy for the Green Party of England and Wales — called for the “effective abolition of private landlordism”. Members pledged to load up taxes and regulations and impose rent controls, which in every country that has tried them ends up radically reducing the amount of rental property available, to make it as difficult as possible for private landlords to turn a profit.
The Greens first grabbed national attention in 1989 when they came third in the European Parliament elections, gaining 15% of the poll and more than two million votes.
Both mainstream parties have since upped their own green offering, culminating in the damaging net-zero regime. The Greens, however, haven’t stood still.
