CHARLIE MULGREW reckons Premier League trio Leeds, Sunderland and West Ham are wasting their time if they think they can persuade Celtic to sell Cameron Carter-Vickers.

When fit, the 27-year-old is a nailed-on starter for manager Brendan Rodgers.

Even though Parkhead chiefs could command a fee of around £20million from his English top-flight suitors, it says it all that Rodgers has only been focused on finding a new left-sided centre-half to partner him.

Since Carl Starfelt moved on two years ago, Celtic have tried various players alongside USA international Carter-Vickers.

Auston Trusty and Liam Scales both had runs last season, while the outings of Maik Nawrocki, Gustaf Lagerbielke and Stephen Welsh have been more sporadic.

Rodgers has cast his eye to Japan this summer and Niigata’s Hayato Inamura as the next potential centre-back candidate.

But with the 23-year-old being left-footed, it’s clear Carter-Vickers is still regarded as an untouchable at the heart of the Hoops rearguard.

Former Parkhead defender Mulgrew said: “I don’t think they'll want to let Cameron go.
