Fury at Freeman bid to blame care homes
Scottish Daily Express
|July 24, 2025
THE SNP Heath Secretary during the Covid pandemic has been blasted for suggesting it was care homes that were at fault for hundreds of deaths due to the virus.
Jeane Freeman absolved the Scottish Government of any blame for the care home fatalities.
She has previously been accused of “corporate homicide” alongside Nicola Sturgeon for allowing patients to be sent from hospitals into care facilities without being tested for the disease. It occurred for a number of weeks after lockdown in March 2020.
The process led to care homes being ravaged by the virus, with staff also not being provided with adequate PPE to prevent the spread.
The Crown Office is still probing hundreds of these deaths to see whether there was any crime committed or if anyone was culpable.
Up to the end of March 2021, there were 3,774 reports of deaths in care homes, some of which are still being investigated by prosecutors now.
