Ex-lawyer accused of threats

A FORMER lawyer is to stand trial charged with threatening a string of high-profile figures.
Mathew Sylvestre faced the claims during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow this week.
He is first said to have targeted former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and is accused of sending “abusive and offensive” emails to the London Islington North MP between November 2020 and December 2021.
He is also charged with forwarding a postcard to the home of then Police Scotland chief constable Iain Livingstone. Sylvestre, 60, allegedly told Mr Livingstone that a man known as George Baigrie may contact him.
