Deaths of Gaza's children must end, as Geldof says

LATEST images of starving and helpless people in Gaza will still shock in a century’s time. We cannot conceive of the terror a mother must feel as she watches her children shrink to skin and bone. Parents in Gaza risk death as they join crowds in a desperate hunt for food.

A catastrophe is unfolding on this tiny strip of land. Humanity will be shamed if the likes of one-year-old Muhammad Zakariya Ayyoub al-Matoug — who was on the front page of the Daily Express yesterday — are allowed to die.

Today we have highlighted the panic facing Gazans in the grip of hunger. Live Aid pioneer Sir Bob Geldof, who led calls to “feed the world” when the deadliest of famines seized Ethiopia, now urges Israel to “feed the children of Gaza and their tormented terrified broken and panicked mothers”.
