Davina had the same kind of tumour as Kirsty... speaking to her was uplifting'

TV STAR Davina McCall made an “uplifting” visit to the home of an 11-year-old girl with a brain tumour to share their experiences.

Kirsty Waugh was diagnosed with a grade one benign brain tumour on the same day that Davina posted a video to fans revealing she had a similar growth.

Noticing the coincidence, Kirsty’s parents Mat and Kate contacted the presenter, who lives locally, through a friend of a friend, to ask if she would leave a message for their daughter.

She not only recorded a video clip but organised to come to Kirsty’s home in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Mat, 53, said Davina chatted for over an hour to the entire family, including Kirsty’s older sisters Isla and Doris, last week.

He added: “She is as lovely and warm and generous as you would hope. She and Kirsty talked a lot about their respective treatment. It was a really uplifting experience. We all felt better for having spoken to her.

“She is a very funny woman, so there was an enormous amount of laughing. And a lot of hugging.”
