Goodwin hails player who can't get in United side but has an international double-header

DAVID BABUNSKI is gearing up for World Cup qualifiers while hardly getting a look-in at Dundee United - but boss Jim Goodwin insists the forgotten man still has an important part to play in their push for a European spot.

The playmaker has been afforded barely 10 minutes of action in 2025, making two late substitute appearances against Celtic and Hibs in February.

Babunski would appear to have a better chance of getting some much-needed game time on international duty with North Macedonia, who face Liechtenstein on Saturday and Wales on Tuesday.

Goodwin acknowledges there are times when the 31-year-old struggles with the rough and tumble of the Scottish Premiership but he feels there are still games in which he can make his mark.

“David is hugely important to us,” said the manager, above. “A top, top professional. He’s so good in terms of how he sets the standards in training daily. He never throws his toys out of the pram when he’s out of the team.
