Cops search for weapon in gangland hit 9 yrs ago

POLICE have been searching for a gun used to kill a leading underworld figure almost a decade ago, it has been revealed.

Euan Johnston, 26, was shot dead while he sat in his car at traffic lights.

At the time of his killing, the man known as EJ was awaiting trial on charges of drug dealing involving £640,000 of heroin.

The fatal shooting happened on Shields Road near Scotland Street in Glasgow’s Tradeston in November 2016.

David Scott was subsequently convicted of Mr Johnston’s murder two years later.

Now, it has emerged that police are searching a grass embankment in Oban following information on the possible whereabouts of a weapon.

The hunt on Soroba Road is expected to last several days.
