Cooper set to praise boat gangs crackdown

YVETTE Cooper has been accused of a “desperate distraction tactic” as she hailed Labour’s record on tackling people smuggling gangs.

The Home Secretary will outline reforms to the border security and asylum system as MPs return to Westminster for the first time since July.

She is expected to say asylum reform will slash the use of flashpoint hotels, while changes to the refugee family reunion process will give “greater fairness and balance”.
