Pop champers, crack open the beers, three worldies mean Scotland can party like never before in the US

>> SCOTLAND.....4 DENMARK.....2 SCOTT MCDERMOTT AT HAMPDEN

TWENTY-SEVEN years of hurt and pain.

Wiped out by one swing of Kenny McLean's left boot.

Incredibly, inexplicably even, Scotland are going to the World Cup again.

On a remarkable night of drama, Hampden witnessed one of its greatest games. And three of the best goals this old stadium has EVER seen.

Steve Clarke's side secured the victory they needed over Denmark to book their place in the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer.

But that doesn't even begin to tell the full story. Scott McTominay's outrageous overhead kick put Scotland in front and sent the Tartan Army into a state of ecstasy.

But the Danes were far from out of it and deserved their penalty equaliser through Rasmus Hojlund.

At that point, the dream was dying. But sub Lawrence Shankland breathed new life into it when he tucked him from close range to make it 2-1.

That SHOULD have been it.

But when Patrick Dorgu levelled 10-man Denmark - who had Rasmus Kristensen sent off were in the driving seat again.

How Clarke's side mustered the desire and hunger to go again simply defied belief.

And when Kieran Tierney made it 3-2 in injury time with a stunning strike, the roof came off. Denmark was doomed, the Scots delirious.

Even then the visitors pushed late on for another but McLean had the final say.

With Kasper Schmeichel off his line, the midfielder produced a goal worthy of winning any game from the halfway line and secured Scotland's place at a World Cup for the first time since 1998.

HISTORY MAKERS

There's been something about this World Cup campaign that has always felt like it was meant to be for Scotland.

Even when performances haven't been at their best, Clarke has always trusted and believed in these players.
