Cancelled ops and A&E waits 'mockery' of FM's NHS claims

ALMOST 2,200 operations were cancelled in Scotland within 24 hours of them being due to take place, new statistics have revealed.

The findings were released on the same day that it was shown that 1,650 people had to wait more than 12 hours before being seen in the country's A&E departments.

However, the number of operations planned rose five per cent year-on-year, a fact the beleaguered Health Secrety Neil Gray claimed showed "sustained and continued improvement" in the NHS.

Official figures show 25,996 surgeries were planned to take place in November 2025 with this up five per cent - 1,232 procedures more - than the same month in 2024.
