Lisa Westfield named First Black President of Rowan Alumni Board

In a milestone moment for Rowan University, Lisa Westfield has been elected as the first Black president of the Alumni Board of Directors, an achievement that sends a powerful message of inclusivity, representation, and inspiration throughout the university community.

Westfield's path to Rowan wasn't straightforward. In fact, she didn't initially have her sights set on the university. “I wanted to attend either Montclair or Rutgers because that’s where all my friends were going,” she candidly recalled. It was her mother, swayed by positive recommendations from colleagues, who ultimately persuaded her to give Rowan University a chance.
