South African drag racing alive and kicking

IT'S been an enthralling year of drag racing in sunny South Africa, filled with incredibly fast cars and some big crashes.

South Africa’s three major drag racing provinces, Gauteng, KwaZu-lu-Natal and the Western Cape saw competitors travel back and forth, competing for bragging rights and new personal bests.

While there may be dozens of classes to go through, the 4 Cylinder rear-wheel-drive turbo and 6 Cylinder naturally-aspirated front-wheel drive classes have been the most competitive. South Africa’s naturally-aspirated front-wheel drive Nissan SR20 class has also seen some major developments, with Capetonian drag racer Jode Cupido shooting to the top of the class with his Nissan Langley. Pretoria drag racing team Murbros, led by Lucky Tladi, has traversed the country to finally seal a 10 second pass at Dezzi Raceway this season. Their beloved Nissan Sentra,
