Best friend in bid to help 'devastated' cancer couple

A COUPLE who have both been diagnosed with cancer and are now fighting to make memories "while they still can" after being told the devastating news.
Following months of feeling unwell, in March 2020 Sarah Hughes, from Runcorn, was given the heartbreaking news she had breast cancer.
However, after a mastectomy and various rounds of treatment, she received the all clear in April 2021.
The 43-year-old's best friend, Kristy Boyce, 46, told how things were "fine" until the mum went to the GP earlier this year after suffering with a viral infection.
Kristy said: "She wasn't well at the beginning of this year, she had been struggling with her breathing. At the time they (the doctors) didn't think it was anything to do with cancer, they thought it was a viral infection, which had caused her to have trouble with her breathing. Looking back she'd had pains in her bones, which she now realised were because of the cancer.
"The doctors sent her to the hospital and they did a scan and found there was cancer in her bones.
"She was sent to an oncologist who did more tests, an MRI and biopsy, and in April she got the diagnosis that it was secondary breast cancer that had gone into her bone and can't be cured."
