Old toilet block to open as hub

A DISUSED toilet block that has been boarded up for years is set to get a new life as a community facility.

- BY CATHERINE SMYTH

Hazelwood Homecare Limited, based in Haslingden, and working throughout Lancashire, purchased the former toilet block on Newchurch Road, Higher Cloughfold, from Rossendale Council.

Director of Hazelwood Ryan Godwin said: “We bought the old toilets as a way of giving back to the community and its sole purpose will be to benefit the community.

“The building will be an asset for Hazelwood, but the reason we bought it was to give Higher Cloughfold a hub for community activities.”

As it has been bricked up for years, Ryan has not been able to view the inside and determine how the interior can be remodelled from a waiting room, male and female toilets, to an open space which could be used for small group activities.
