Students' Wheatsheaf idea wins national award

STUDENTS from Rochdale Sixth Form College have won a national award for their proposal of the redevelopment of Rochdale's Wheatsheaf shopping centre.

Ffion Williams, 17, Gabby Ogden, 17, Scarlett Crossley, 16, and Anjuma Ali, 17, won the Special Award for Nature and People Positive Innovation (sponsored by the JBA Trust) in the Institution of Civil Engineers' (ICE) CityZen competition.
CityZen is a two-stage competition for 16to 18-year-olds that aims to encourage more young people to study civil engineering at university or apprenticeship level.
In the first stage, students compete in the ICE CityZen online game, where they overcome a series of civil engineering-inspired challenges.
