Foreign office speaks out over mum stuck in Turkey

Georgia Harrison, from Whitworth, was arrested along with her partner after what she describes as the ‘worst mistake of her life’ while drunk in a hotel room last month.

The 32-year-old had been celebrating her boyfriend’s new veneers when she claims to have blacked out and smashed the glass bathroom screen.

The next morning, on May 7, she attempted to leave the Lexia Hotel in Antalya without reporting the damage and was subsequently arrested.

She has since been placed under a travel ban and has remained in Turkey for the seven weeks following the incident

Georgia claims that she was asked to pay £15,000 for the damage and, after ‘resisting arrest’ to have her travel ban lifted, appeared in court.
