The current world is at a very sensitive juncture in history.

- Vidhu Prakash Kayastha

On the one hand, there is extreme development of technology, while on the other hand, human consciousness is shrinking. Especially in the United States, which is considered the world's superpower, Donald Trump's tenure and subsequent political style have created new dimensions of 'abuse of power'.When politics starts looking at people only as 'vote banks' and 'consumers', a spiritual vacuum arises in society. To fill this void, activists of Nepali origin, some Buddhist monks and a wonderful dog walking in front of them - 'Aloka' - have set out on a 3700-kilometer journey from Dallas, Texas to Washington, DC.

The current picture of world politics and 'power hunger'

Today's world situation is fraught with 'power competition'. From the Ukraine-Russia war to the turmoil in the Middle East and the sharp political polarization within the US, 'arrogance' and 'misuse of power' seem to be at the root of it all. Donald Trump's politics have placed America in the 'us and them' category. It has dealt a serious blow to the beautiful aspect of democracy, 'coexistence'.

At such a time, this 3,700 km trek is not just a walk, but a message of compassion given to world politics. While rulers talk about building walls of arrogance and pomp, monks and Aloka's trek are breaking down those walls.
