Warsash drop first rubber of season en route to taking over top spot
Portsmouth News
|March 07, 2026
As the Portsmouth & District Tennis League Ladies' League winter enters its final month, the engraver still knows only one of the five champions' names.
From left (CourtX 1sts) Clare Keiditsch, Ana Cruciol, Julie Durant, Wendy Evans; (Warsash 2nds) Leah Silk, Jan Grant, Nancy Lismore, Sarah Playden
Warsash 1sts beat Division 1 title-rivals Chichester 1sts 3-1, dropping just their first rubber of the campaign, to take pole position.
Warsash are now one point ahead of Chi with a match in hand, so they can still win the title even if Chi win their reverse fixture next weekend.
This time last year, it was Lee Ladies' 1sts who were heading towards winning Division 1 and representing the league in the Solent Cup against the Southampton champions Bassett.
