Centre empowers youth with skills, opportunities
Polokwane Observer
|March 19, 2026
The Serobi Maja Centre for Youth Development in Limpopo continues to make an impact by equipping young people with practical skills and opportunities to build a better future.
Founded by businesswoman and retired teacher Raesetja Maja, the centre was established in response to rising youth unemployment in the province.
“I was worried about the number of unemployed young boys and girls,” she said.
The centre is named after her husband, Dr Serobi Maja, a local icon who served the public sector for over four decades and made history as the first black president of the International Association of Gaming Regulators between 2010 and 2011.
Maja explained that the centre focuses on both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training to prepare young people for employment or entrepreneurship.
