Corruption claims mount against muni

Another dark cloud hangs over the Polokwane Municipality as a wave of corruption allegations and formal complaints have been lodged with law enforcement by opposition political parties.
On Monday, Build One South Africa (BOSA) in Limpopo filed a case with the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), requesting a full forensic investigation into the affairs of the municipality. This comes in the wake of leaked documents suggesting that a foreign-owned company was awarded a R56m contract in a recent financial year.
It is claimed that the company is linked to a close connection of municipal manager Thuso Nemugumoni, who did not respond to Polokwane Observer's request for comment. The EFF also filed a complaint with the Hawks last week relating to the same matter.
