New Year snow mayhem

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy snow affecting 10 Scottish regions - including Perth and Kinross - as Scots face New Year's travel mayhem.

The entire northern half of the country is covered by the yellow alert, impacting dozens of towns and two citiesAberdeen and Inverness.

Experts say up to 30cm could accumulate in some parts, the equivalent of a foot of snow.

Even at lower levels, around 10cm could lie as strong winds, reaching gale force at times, make for blizzard-type conditions.
