Security will be increased at the Perth Museum

Destiny exhibit will reopen to the public

Perth’s Stone of Destiny exhibition will reopen to the public on Thursday after being closed for almost three months.

Security is being ramped up with bags now thoroughly searched and some bags being banned entirely.

Concerns had been raised last month about the time it was taking to reopen the prized tourist attraction following a July 12 incident in which its glass case was smashed.

A 35-year-old man appeared at Perth Sheriff Court following the July 12 incident charged with malicious mischief.

He made no plea or declaration and was granted bail.

The Stone of Destiny Experience will now reopen on Thursday, October 9, at noon.

The Perth Museum website now states: "For the safety and security of all, bag checks are in operation for visitors to the Stone of Destiny Experience.
