Crews tackle wildfire blaze as alert issued

Fire crews remained at the scene of a wildfire on the outskirts of Perth yesterday (Monday) following a weekend of scorching temperatures and “extreme” wildfire warnings.

Crews were called out to the Craigend site by the M90 at 2.17pm on Friday.

Police Scotland closed the unclassified road between Aberdalgie and Craigend around 3.45pm that afternoon.

It came as an extreme wildfire warning had been issued for much of Scotland.

At one point six fire appliances and a specialist wildfire unit were at the Craigend area over the weekend.

SFRS said on Friday: “Firefighters are currently in attendance at a fire in the open in the Craigend area of Perth.

“This is visible from the M90.
