Community allotments bloom in North Muirton

Thanks to volunteer-led group Your North Muirton, the old MUGA site near the Riverside path has been cleared and rebuilt with 30 new raised beds, marking the launch of a community allotment project that's been years in the making.

Backed by public support in the recent Participatory Budget vote - where the project earned the second-highest number of votes - and with materials and labour donated by local construction firm Kilmac, the transformation is already drawing a huge response from locals.

"Perth-based initiatives like this are fantastic for giving something back to the community," said Derek Ross from Kilmac.

"A project like this, benefits the community, families, friends - everyone in North Muirton. We love opportunities like this and hopefully we'll be able to come back and see how successful it is in the future.
