VOLUNTEERS ARE PROHIBITED FROM CARRYING FIREARMS WHILE ON DUTY
Residents in Pinelands have formally joined a structured volunteer crime-prevention initiative aimed at strengthening visibility and community reporting.
The inaugural meeting of the Community in Blue (CIB) unit was convened on Monday, 16 February by the Pinelands Community Policing Forum (CPF) and South African Police Service at Pinelands Police Station.
The initiative operates as a volunteer extension of police visibility and reports through the CPF to ensure oversight and accountability.
Pinelands Precinct currently has four operational CIB members, with plans to increase the number to eight by the end of March this year, according to the CPF.
Dr Marietta Hopley, chair of the Pinelands CPF, said the partnership would strengthen coordinated crime-prevention efforts.
