Rising demand for debt support as households face financial hardship
Paisley Daily Express
|January 29, 2026
Financial hardship is “deepening” among Renfrewshire households as more people turn to advice services for help, an elected member has said.
Crisis point Councillor Graeme Clark says all of the data is showing households are at the end of their tether trying to make ends meet
It’s been claimed a range of figures provide “clear and concerning evidence” of the pressures people are experiencing in the local authority area.
That's according to Councillor Graeme Clark, vice-chair of the Fairer Renfrewshire subcommittee, who reflected on the data presented at its meeting yesterday.
He said: “We're continuing to see clear and concerning evidence that financial pressures on households in Renfrewshire are deepening and nowhere is this more visible than in the rising demand for debt services.”
