Roland Idowu says his Scottish Cup winner was straight from the training ground.

The St Mirren ace produced a cool finish to secure a 2-1 extra-time win over Airdrieonians on Friday night in the fifth round.

Euan Henderson ensured a long evening at the Albert Bartlett Stadium for Stephen Robinson's troops who had taken the lead through Jacob Devaney.

But Idowu popped up as penalties loomed to send Saints into last night's quarterfinal draw with his third goal of the season.

The former Shrewsbury Town man converted from a long free-kick by keeper Shamal George after Airdrie let the ball bounce.

And Idowu was delighted hard work on the pitch at Ralston paid off in a critical moment.
