Plans aim to improve viability of retail units

Plans to change the specific way two units at Blythswood Retail Park in Renfrew function have been submitted as part of efforts to boost activity at the location.

Innes Building Consultancy, the agent company working on behalf of M7 Real Estate Investment Partners, has submitted applications for planning permission to Renfrewshire Council.

It hopes to receive consent from the local authority for a part change of use from retail to a composite retail and storage and distribution for the pair of adjacent spaces, known as units 14 and 15, at the spot in West Lodge Road.

A supporting statement said the site had "suffered economically" in recent years and "struggled to remain viable as a retail location" because of competition from other shopping centres in the wider area.
