Union warns chiefs in Glasgow
There could be a summer of travel chaos at Glasgow Airport as trade union chiefs vow to “ground planes and passengers” if new pay deals are not forthcoming.
Around 100 workers employed by Glasgow Airport Ltd have already backed industrial action while 350 more are locked in disputes with other employers based at the Paisley transport hub - ICTS and Swissport.
Unite the union says its 100-strong membership employed by the airport “emphatically” supported strike action.
It came after airport ambassadors, airside support officers, engineers and managers rejected a basic four per cent pay offer.
“They are amongst the 450 employees across the three companies which are, with the support of Unite, fighting for better pay and conditions.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Employers at Glasgow Airport will not get away with underpaying or mistreating Unite's members.
