A Renfrewshire supergran who survived an incredible five-organ transplant is facing homelessness after being hit with eviction from her childhood home.

Medical miracle Joanne Adam - who previously underwent an 18-hour operation to replace her liver, pancreas, stomach, small intestine and large intestine - has been told she must leave her rented property in Johnstone in a matter of weeks after her landlord was forced to sell.

She first moved in five decades ago.

The 55-year-old, who suffers from a string of crippling health problems and relies on feeding machines, said she fears being forced into homeless accommodation as the stress of her ordeal takes its toll.

The gran-of-three is desperately hunting for a council house but is yet to find a suitable property as she must live close to relatives she relies on for daily care.

Scottish Labour said Joanne's case was a “heartbreaking” example of the “human cost” of the housing emergency gripping Scotland.

Joanne said: “It’s my childhood home.

“I first moved into the house in 1973 and there are a lot of memories here.

“I'm just so sad I’m having my wee house taken away from me and have got to potentially move away from the people who help me daily.

“Everything is starting to get on top of me and it's like banging my head against a brick wall.

“The house is in total disrepair but I was willing to put up with it because it was my home. I really thought I'd be here for the rest of my days.”

Joanne’s health battle began in August 2013 when she started having severe stomach pains and was struggling to breathe.
