Green light for trees to be cut to help boost light exposure

Council gives go ahead to reduction

A request to reduce the height of two trees and prune the branches of 13 on land behind homes in Houston has been approved by Renfrewshire Council.

A resident of Gryfebank Close in the Craigends area of the village submitted an application for the works in a bid to boost light exposure for nearby houses. The local authority confirmed it had granted consent in early April and explained the job was of a “sufficiently minor nature” that would not “adversely affect” the strip of woodland in question.

As part of the application, the resident had said the trees were “blocking light” into residential properties and were “becoming a nuisance” because of their height.
