Golden girl Helen never let disability stop her

Helen Couttie was a very special woman.
-
For, despite being physically handicapped, she won three gold medals at a national sporting event while helping the Scottish disabled swimming team defeat competitors from all over Britain, we reported in September 1979.
Twenty-five-year-old Helen, of King Street, Paisley, who also won a silver medal, had been disabled by polio all of her life.
