Engage Renfrewshire funding 'cut' claims

A total of £360,610 in grant funding has been approved for Engage Renfrewshire this year - despite a claim the amount is effectively a “cut” amid increasing costs.

The allocation for the area's designated third sector interface (TSI) - a provider of services to support community and voluntary organisations - is the same for 2025/26 as the figure rubber-stamped last year.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of Renfrewshire Council's leadership board at which Labour group leader Iain McMillan asked if this placed “any doubt” on the TSI’s ability to meet its obligations.

The politician, who represents Johnstone South and Elderslie, said at the meeting: "I note that Engage are getting the exact same amount of money as last year and we know that in effect is a cut given inflation and extra costs associated with various other things.
