More than 16 complaints about rats are being made to Renfrewshire Council every week, new figures have revealed.

The data, obtained by Neil Bibby MSP, shows that 828 complaints about rodents were made to the local authority in the 2024/25 financial year.
It means almost three complaints were made every single day.
The figures come after the Express reported on rat infestations on Beith Road in Johnstone, Ferguson Street in Renfrew and Well Street in Paisley.
The situation has been branded “horrifying” by Mr Bibby.
The West Scotland MSP said: “There has been a horrifying number of rat sightings in Renfrewshire as SNP budget cuts take their toll.
“Renfrewshire is a fantastic place to live but we can all see how badly it is being let down by the SNP.
“The SNP is failing on the basics, leaving us with litter on the streets and rats running riot.
