Can I can get help with uniform costs?

My daughter is starting secondary school in August, and I'm worried about the cost of purchasing her uniform. Is there any financial help available for families on a low income like mine?

Can I can get help with uniform costs?

Yes, there is support available to help with the costs of sending children to school, especially if you are on a low income or receive certain benefits.

The help you may be entitled to includes school clothing grants.

All councils in Scotland must provide a school clothing grant to help with the cost of uniforms.

For Renfrewshire, this is a payment of £150 for secondary-aged children, and a winter payment of £50.

To qualify, you'll usually need to be receiving a means-tested benefit such as universal credit, income support, income-based job seekers allowance or income-based employment and support allowance.
