The police officers who dealt with an incident in which a man attempted to murder one of their colleagues acted with "extreme bravery and professionalism", a chief superintendent has said.
Liridon Kastrati, 32, was convicted of chasing PC Gary Cowan with a chainsaw and attempting to murder him following a trial at the High Court in Paisley in November 2025.
He was jailed for 10 years at the High Court in Glasgow yesterday.
Chief superintendent Rhona Fraser said the attack in Paisley, on May 6, 2024, demonstrated the "dynamic and violent nature" of some of the incidents police have to face in the course of their duties.
