Attainment gap is still unchanged

On Tuesday, young people across our country woke up to emails, text messages and letters containing their exam results.

There will, of course, be thousands of pupils who are absolutely delighted with their results but there will also be many who have received results that were not expected.

To those who are happy with their results and who are already planning their next steps, I want to say a huge well done.

To the young people out there who are feeling either underwhelmed or disappointed by their results, I want you to remember that there's no one path to get to where you're trying to go and perhaps you're still deciding where you're trying to get to.

It's important for young Scots to not panic and remember that there's lots of support and advice available to out there.

SQA can be contacted to make an appeal if a pupil feels that a result is not a fair reflection of their attainment of a subject.
