A winter warmer for pensioners

We are getting to the point in the year when our young people are back to school and the summer that we had is well and truly over.

Autumn is on its way and, with that, the drop in temperatures.

Something we are all too familiar with happens every year, but nowadays there is a trepidation in witnessing the change in weather - particularly with older people or those with disabilities.

We are well versed in what has happened to the economy and the attempt by the present Westminster government to balance the books by targeting the winter fuel payment and the disability payments of those that need them.

Well, a bit of good news is that the Scottish Government will be rolling out the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment from November this year.

When Westminster announced the removal of the payment, we were determined to do something about that.

Balancing the books on the backs of those that need support is not what we are about.
