Comic 'not surprised' at being spat at

A NON-BINARY and bisexual comedian who was spat at on the way to a gig said “it was upsetting but I wasn’t surprised by it”.

Sam Serrano was reportedly approached by a man in an alleyway on Church Road, in Ormskirk. The attacker tapped them on the shoulder before calling them a homophobic slur and then spitting on them.

The vile incident happened a few years back and Sam, who was 20 at the time, believes it came about because they were wearing makeup at the time.

This is something they have done since they were a teenager and Sam said it made them even more determined to continue with their career.

At the time, Sam said: “It was upsetting but I wasn’t surprised by it. I get comments or snide looks in the street so often that it’s quite commonplace. What annoyed me most is that I wasn’t surprised it happened.”
