Senior servitor's murder rocks Puri
Orissa POST
|June 12, 2025
Despite Puri being under a tight security blanket for Snana Yatra celebrations in Srimandir, the gruesome murder of an elderly servitor in broad daylight shocked residents and pilgrims alike Wednesday, raising serious questions about the effectiveness of security arrangements made in the temple town.
The victim, identified as 80-year-old Jagannath Dikshit, a senior servitor from Mahasuar Sahi, was allegedly attacked and killed at Rabeni Choura in Gudia Sahi under Town Police Station limits.
Preliminary investigations suggested that past enmity and financial dispute could be the motive behind the attack. A man identified as Narayan Pattajoshi from the same locality has been identified as the prime suspect in the murder case. He is currently absconding.
