Pradhan backs Kudopali as heritage & pilgrimage site

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Monday called for developing Kudopali in Sambalpur district into a major cultural heritage and pilgrimage site, citing its immense significance in India’s freedom struggle.
Pradhan was speaking while participating in the Veer Chhabila Sai Memorial Padayatra at Kudopali, a sacred site linked to the 1857 freedom movement.
During the event, he paid heartfelt tributes to Veer Chhabila Sai, brother of legendary freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai, and to the 57 martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation.
The Union minister recalled that December 30, 1857, 53 freedom fighters were martyred on the battlefield of Kudopali, followed by the hanging of four more, taking the total number of martyrs to 57.
